₹7.5 lakh bribery case: Arrested LDA JE suspended; departmental probe ordered

The Uttar Pradesh government suspended Dinesh Kumar Verma, a junior engineer of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), on August 4, 2026, two days after his arrest in a ₹7.5 lakh bribery case.

Verma was arrested on August 1 along with supervisor Chandra Prakash and private individual Shravan Kumar while allegedly accepting a bribe.

The suspension order came after LDA vice-chairman recommended disciplinary action; a departmental inquiry was also ordered.

The Vigilance investigation alleges Verma misused complaints on the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal to pressure property owners, threating demolition, and demanding bribes.

The probe has widened to examine a possible nexus between frequent complainants, middlemen, and enforcement officials, with CCTV footage and IGRS records sought.
