NHAI identifies 8 highway bottlenecks, prepares action plan to ease traffic

NHAI Pune identified eight critical bottlenecks on national highways in and around Pune due to severe traffic congestion from heavy rainfall.

Major congestion hotspots include Navale Bridge Chowk, Wakad Chowk, Ahmednagar Road Highway, Satara Road Highway, and Solapur Road Highway after Hadapsar.

NHAI is preparing a coordinated action plan with traffic police, PMC, and PCMC for short-term operational measures and long-term engineering solutions.

Long-term strategy may include widening carriageways, constructing additional service roads and slip roads at critical stretches.

Detailed traffic studies are being conducted at each location to determine interventions based on traffic volume, road geometry, and growth projections.
