Undercover cops ride buses in Bengaluru, nab pickpocketing duo

Vidhana Soudha police in Bengaluru conducted an undercover operation on BMTC buses to catch pickpockets after three thefts, including the theft of Rs 35,000 from 84-year-old pensioner Narasimhaiah K.

Plainclothes officers boarded buses on routes from Shivajinagar, Pulakeshinagar, and Benson Town for over 10 days, using facial sketches from CCTV footage to identify suspects.

The suspects Mubarak Pasha, 30, of Kengeri, and Anwar Pasha, 55, of JJ Nagar were arrested near Shivajinagar after targeting crowded buses toward the city centre.

DCP (Central) Akshay Machindra Hakay formed a four-member special team from Vidhana Soudha police station to investigate the pickpocketing gang.
