Woman held husband's leg after he was sucked out of plane

Svetlana Grković grabbed her husband Ljubisa Karović's legs after his upper body was sucked outside a plane mid-air through a shattered window.

The incident occurred on Ryanair flight FR1879 from Thessaloniki, Greece to Memmingen, Germany on a Friday operated by Malta Air.

Karović had his seatbelt on but his upper torso was outside at 16,000 ft for two minutes; he lost consciousness three times.

Grković and two passengers, including an Albanian man, pulled Karović back inside the aircraft; he suffered hand injuries and burns and is hospitalized.

The flight returned to Thessaloniki airport safely; a replacement aircraft was arranged for passengers to Memmingen.
