Maharashtra higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil said the government will positively consider granting one-year recognition to unaided colleges.
The government will address long-pending demands of permanently unaided colleges, including financial support for institutions in rural, tribal, hilly, drought-prone and Naxal-affected regions.
Patil directed officials to review the fee structure for unaided undergraduate programmes (BA, BCom, BSc) and examine the scope for revision.
The state government cannot modify UGC faculty eligibility norms requiring NET/SET or PhD, but will consider recognition requests.
