Chandigarh prepares to welcome PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chandigarh on July 17 to launch projects including an advanced neuroscience centre and mother and child centre at PGIMER, a multipurpose auditorium at Panjab University's South Campus, and road infrastructure projects worth ₹5,278 crore.
Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav chaired a high-level meeting to ensure seamless coordination and foolproof arrangements across departments for the event at Punjab Engineering College.
Officials discussed security, protocol, traffic management, venue preparedness, parking, emergency services, and public convenience, with emphasis on drinking water, toilets, parking, and medical assistance.
Venue in-charges, executive magistrates, and sector in-charges were assigned specific duties for stage management, seating, crowd control, parking, and law and order along VVIP routes.
A full-scale dry run will be conducted on July 16 to test arrangements.
