6.7 crore saplings planted by CAPFs in last 5 years: MHA tells Parliament

Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) planted nearly 6.7 crore saplings in the last five years, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told the Rajya Sabha.

Junior Home Minister Nityanand Rai said seven CAPFs developed 3,212 nurseries from 2020 to 2025 and set up 1,995 'vatikas' dedicated to martyrs between 2020 and 2024.

North-eastern states led sapling distribution: Manipur had 64.8 lakh saplings planted, Nagaland 61.2 lakh, and Assam 59.6 lakh.

CRPF and BSF together developed 69% of the nurseries; ITBP led in vatika development with 763 set up from 2020 to 2024.
