China launches WAICO AI body with Pakistan and Russia

China launched WAICO, a new intergovernmental body for global AI governance, on July 16 in Shanghai.

Twenty-nine countries joined WAICO, including Pakistan, Russia, and all founding BRICS nations.

India and the United States did not join WAICO.

WAICO aims to govern AI on a global scale.
