  1. The Centre extended the deadline for NCCF and NAFED to procure 2 lakh MT of onions from Nashik farmers, initially set for July 31.

  2. As of late July, the agencies had procured about 1.2 lakh MT of the 2 lakh MT target.

  3. The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution raised the procurement price from ₹2,175 to ₹2,335 per quintal for superior-quality onions.

  4. Agencies face competition from traders offering ₹2,400–2,800 per quintal at Lasalgaon wholesale market, deterring farmers from selling to them.

  5. No fresh deadline has been set for completing the procurement, according to NCCF's Nashik branch manager Harsha Kamini.
