Big blow for Birmingham Phoenix! Bethell ruled out of The Hundred 2026

England all-rounder Jacob Bethell will miss The Hundred 2026 due to a right knee injury sustained during the ODI series against India.

Bethell was retained by Birmingham Phoenix for GBP 340,000 and had been appointed captain for the upcoming season.

An MRI scan confirmed the injury, and Bethell will begin rehabilitation immediately.

Birmingham Phoenix head coach Shane Bond confirmed Donovan Ferreira will take over the captaincy.

Bethell scored 76* off 46 balls in a T20I and 91 in the final ODI against India before the injury.
