IPL investment later, The Hundred continues to be a family affair

The Hundred's sixth edition began on July 21, 2026, retaining its 100-ball innings format with double headers for men's and women's matches.

After a £520 million investment, teams were acquired by IPL owners: MI London (formerly Oval Invincibles) by the Ambani family, SunRisers Leeds (formerly Northern Superchargers) by Sun Group, and Manchester Super Giants (formerly Manchester Originals) by RPSG Group.

GMR Group, co-owners of Delhi Capitals, acquired a 49% stake in Southern Brave.

Defending men's champions MI London beat SunRisers Leeds at The Oval on the opening day; in the women's competition, SunRisers defeated MI London by 7 wickets.
