MBBS interns at RMLIMS stage protest over low stipend, seek hike

MBBS interns at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) protested on Monday demanding a monthly stipend increase from ₹12,000 to ₹30,000.
Interns attempted to march toward the main road but were stopped by police and institute security, continuing slogans on campus.
RMLIMS director Prof CM Singh said a memorandum from the interns will be forwarded to the state government for action.
Interns argue the current ₹12,000 per month (about ₹400 per day) is lower than daily wages of many labourers, despite working 8-12 hours a day.
They demand ₹1,000 per day or ₹30,000 per month for fair compensation, citing long hours and responsibilities.
