Psychology graduate says she paid ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 for internships, still can't land first job

Psychology graduate Vaishnavi Sharma posted on LinkedIn about struggling to find her first relevant job after completing a Master's in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Clinical and Counselling Psychology.

Sharma paid ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 for some internships, believing practical exposure was essential to becoming a competent mental health professional.

Many employers expect fresh graduates to have one to two years of experience even for entry-level positions, she said.

Many roles advertised as counselling jobs are actually focused on admissions, education counselling, or sales, limiting genuine clinical positions.

Entry-level roles offer salaries of only ₹10,000 to ₹15,000, and her post resonated with many LinkedIn users facing similar struggles.
