Peace in Manipur needs trust, IDP rehabilitation first: Conrad Sangma

National People’s Party president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma said peace in Manipur requires rebuilding trust among fractured communities.

Sangma prioritised rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) as essential to restoring normalcy in the conflict-hit state.

He described the situation as 'very complicated' and called for sustained dialogue, confidence-building measures, and collective stakeholder participation.

Sangma appealed to all communities to work together and give peace a chance, starting with continuous engagement and trust-building.

He acknowledged no immediate solution but stressed that sustained engagement and IDP rehabilitation are essential for stability.
