At Least 35 People Killed After Buses Collide in Syria, State Media Reports

in5points
At least 35 people were killed and 30 injured after a civilian bus and an Interior Ministry bus collided on a desert highway in Syria.
The crash occurred on the highway linking Damascus with Deir el-Zour, between Palmyra and al-Sukhnah.
SANA news agency cited a health ministry official; ambulances and helicopters were dispatched to the site.
The Interior Ministry bus was carrying Internal Security Forces members, and the other carried civilians.
Syria's highway safety standards are poor due to nearly 14 years of civil war; over 2,000 traffic accidents occurred from January to September 2024.
