Gujarat on high alert as extremely heavy rainfall likely over next 2 days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted extremely heavy rainfall across several districts of Gujarat from July 31 to August 2, 2026.
Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Anand, Narmada, Tapi, Dang, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar have been placed on high alert.
The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force have been kept on standby for relief and rescue operations.
x7 control rooms are to be operational in every district with a Class-I officer deployed round the clock.
Residents of flood-prone areas will be evacuated to relief shelters equipped with food, safe drinking water, and essential medical facilities.
