US President Donald Trump said talks with Iran were underway and called them Tehran's 'last chance' to reach a deal, but Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei denied any negotiations or planned meetings.

Iran's Baghaei said all Iranian negotiators are in the country except Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who is on a religious pilgrimage in Iraq, and that the only discussions are with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil prices rose 0.7% to $84.39 a barrel on Tuesday after a 7% drop on Monday, amid uncertainty over US-Iran talks and West Asian supply concerns.

Trump said on Saturday that the US and Israel agreed to pause strikes on Iran if a deal is reached quickly, and he canceled an attack, claiming Iran and other Middle Eastern countries requested it.

A cargo vessel was hit by an unknown projectile approximately 20 nautical miles northeast of Al Khasab, Oman, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
