'Make in India' radar programme to help Tejas track targets gets Rs 2,205 crore boost
Astra Microwave received a Rs 2,205 crore order from HAL for 122 Active Antenna Array Units and 121 Interface Frames for the Uttam Radar.
The Uttam Radar is an indigenous AESA radar developed by DRDO's LRDE for the Tejas Mk-1A fighter.
The Uttam Mk-1 has 912 transmit/receive modules and a detection range of around 150 km against tactical targets.
It supports air-to-air, air-to-ground, and maritime modes, including synthetic aperture radar imaging and ground moving target indication.
The initial 83 Tejas Mk-1A fighters will use the Israeli EL/M-2052 radar, while the second batch will use the Uttam.
