Critically ill shepherd rescued from remote Bara Bhangal after 36-hour operation

A critically ill shepherd was rescued from remote Bara Bhangal in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, after a 36-hour operation.

The rescue was carried out by a 13-member mountaineering team from Bharmour, Chamba, led by instructor Pankaj Mahant.

Adverse weather prevented a helicopter rescue; the team trekked to Bara Bhangal and evacuated the shepherd on foot.

The evacuation began on July 19, and the shepherd was taken to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital in Chamba.

The operation involved coordination among the Chamba administration, Kangra administration, police, and locals.
