Secret Service agent charged with felonies in beatings police say were fraternity hazing

U.S. Secret Service agent Marquez Christopher Pinder, 29, of the Miami field office, was charged with violent felonies for beatings as part of a Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity hazing ritual in April 2026.

Pinder was described as a 'dean of pledges' for a Miami chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and was placed on administrative leave by the Secret Service, which is cooperating with investigators.

The hazing incidents involved prolonged beatings with canes and paddles, leaving two victims hospitalized with severe injuries including kidney damage and a need for skin grafts.

Charges against Pinder and two other men include felony hazing with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, and attempted manslaughter.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle stated that hazing is abuse and a crime, noting victims often end up in graves or hospital beds.
