Prashant Kishor (Jan Suraaj Party) led by 1,145 votes after four rounds of counting in the Bankipur assembly by-election.
The by-election was necessitated by Nitin Nabin's election as a Rajya Sabha member after his elevation as BJP chief.
After three rounds, Kishor polled 6,269 votes, BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha 5,124, and RJD's Rekha Kumari 884.
Voter turnout was 34.30%, lower than the 41.35% in the 2025 assembly election.
The seat has been held by BJP since 1995; Nabin first won it in the 2006 bypoll.
