NEET controversy: We are fighting for students, not any one party, says Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav joined opposition MPs in a protest at Parliament's Makar Dwar demanding the Union education minister's resignation over NEET-UG 2026 paper leaks and alleged police excesses against students.

Yadav said the NEET controversy concerns all students and youth, not any single party, and the opposition is fighting on their behalf.

He alleged over 150 examination paper leaks have occurred under the BJP government, including more than 20 in Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav claimed students suffered head injuries and fractures during police action, with female students' clothes torn, and accused the BJP government of arrogance and refusing to engage with students.
