Cross-border drug racket busted in Amritsar, man held with 20kg heroin

Police in Amritsar arrested Om Sharma, a resident of Jhabal in Tarn Taran, and seized 20 kg of heroin.

Sharma was acting on directions from a foreign-based handler linked to cross-border smugglers, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.

The heroin was reportedly delivered by Pakistan-based associates using drones in the Ajnala border area.

Police also impounded Sharma's Honda City car (PB46AJ6021) used in the smuggling.

A case under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered at the state special operation cell police station in Amritsar.
