Orange alert: Brace for heavy rain in Chandigarh today

India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Chandigarh for July 28, 2026, indicating heavy rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

The orange alert warns of increased risk of flooding, traffic disruption, and power outages.

Chandigarh received 40.8 mm of rain until 8:30 am on July 27, with temperatures falling to a maximum of 34.8°C and a minimum of 25.4°C.

Seasonal rainfall since June 1 is 289.9 mm, 23.7% below the normal of 359.6 mm, though July has surpassed its normal monthly rainfall at 225.6 mm.
