Kamaru Usman eyes one more run at UFC gold ahead of Dricus Du Plessis showdown

Kamaru Usman believes a win over former middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis at UFC Fight Night on July 19 could move him one step closer to another title shot.

Usman has fought sparingly since losing the welterweight title to Leon Edwards in 2022, followed by a loss to Khamzat Chimaev at middleweight.

He returned in June 2025 with a five-round win over Joaquin Buckley, reviving his hopes for a second UFC title.

Usman, 39, stated every fight must be meaningful as he aims to become a two-division champion before retiring.

Du Plessis is ranked No. 2 in the middleweight division, making the bout a significant step toward title contention.
