Major Setback For INDIA Bloc As Sharad Pawar-Led NCP (SP) Set To Back Delimitation Bill In Upcoming Parliament

Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) is set to support the proposed Delimitation Bill (Constitution 131st Amendment) during Parliament's Monsoon Session.

The Bill seeks to increase Lok Sabha strength to 850 seats and enable the next delimitation exercise.

The NCP (SP) is not part of the ruling NDA but is expected to vote in favor, marking a departure from the broader Opposition's stand.

Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram urged NCP (SP) and DMK not to support the Bill, arguing it would reduce representation for states that controlled population growth.

The decision follows meetings between NCP (SP) leader Jayant Patil and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, fueling speculation of changing political equations in Maharashtra.
