State transport co-operative bank director caught accepting ₹4 lakh bribe

  1. Anil Tukaram Bankar, director of State Transport Co-operative Bank Ltd., Mumbai, was arrested by the ACB Pune for accepting a ₹4 lakh bribe.

  2. The complainant, a contractor, alleged Bankar demanded ₹5 lakh to clear a pending ₹8.60 lakh payment for furniture renovation work at the bank's Baramati branch.

  3. Bankar was caught in a trap near Baramati ST stand on July 25, 2026, after negotiating the bribe down to ₹4 lakh.

  4. He has been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Baramati City Police Station.
