Djokovic teams up with Sabalenka for revamped US Open mixed doubles

Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka headline the initial 16 teams for the revamped US Open mixed doubles championship, offering a $1 million prize.

Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori return, and other entries include Iga Swiatek with Casper Ruud, Naomi Osaka with Kei Nishikori, and Jessica Pegula with Jack Draper.

The main draw runs August 25–26 at Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium; six teams qualify by combined singles rankings, eight get wild cards, and two come from a qualifying event on August 24.

The revamped format, introduced in 2025, prioritizes singles players over doubles specialists but drew 78,000 spectators with sell-out crowds both days.

USTA CEO Craig Tiley said the mixed doubles championship engages new audiences and showcases stars playing together.
