Khadakwasla nears overflow as heavy rain lashes ghats; IMD retains red alert

Khadakwasla dam stock crossed 80% mark due to heavy rainfall in Pune ghat areas.

IMD issued red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall over ghat sections of Pune on July 23 and orange alert for July 24.

Bhira in Mulshi tehsil recorded highest rainfall of 309 mm in 24 hours ending 8:30 am on July 23.

Authorities advised commuters to exercise caution in ghat sections due to reduced visibility, landslides, and waterlogging.

Active monsoon conditions expected to continue for next two to three days before easing gradually.
