Ex-KPSC chief now faces probe in veterinary officers fraud case

Former KPSC chairman Shivaraj Shankarappa Sahukar faces a new criminal probe for alleged manipulation of veterinary officer recruitment through favouritism, bribery, and examination fraud.

Vidhana Soudha police registered an FIR after a complaint by veterinary officer Manjunath, who alleged that appointments to 400 veterinary officer posts were rigged.

Sahukar was suspended earlier in July 2026 by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot over allegations of facilitating his daughters' appointments as industrial extension officers.

The veterinary officer recruitment examination was conducted in January 2026, with nearly 29 candidates allegedly securing appointments through illegal means.

Police inspector SP Kumara Swamy confirmed investigators are examining documentary and digital evidence, with the probe at a preliminary stage.
