Delay in India-UAE gold import quotas leaves Dubai exporters in limbo, raises fears of informal trade

in5points
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has not yet announced fresh gold import quotas for FY27 under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
CEPA allows eligible gold imports from the UAE to receive a one percentage point concession in import duty.
Delays in quota allocation are leaving Dubai exporters uncertain about future shipments.
The uncertainty is raising fears that informal trade channels may increase.
