Karnataka govt orders institutions to report student suicides

Karnataka government directed all higher education institutions to immediately report student suicides or unnatural deaths to jurisdictional police.

The directive applies to state-run and private universities, colleges, residential institutions, PG accommodations, and hostels.

Institutions must report incidents even if they occur outside campus, hostels, or PG accommodations.

Residential HEIs must provide round-the-clock access to qualified medical assistance on campus or within a 1km radius.

Institutions cannot withhold academic credentials or prevent class attendance due to delayed scholarship disbursement.
