Soccer-Argentina's football association denies reports Tapia summoned by US courts

Argentina's football association (AFA) denied reports that its president Claudio Tapia and treasurer Pablo Toviggino were summoned by U.S. courts.

AFA acknowledged that a third party was summoned to appear before a U.S. grand jury to provide evidence about several people, including AFA officials.

Local media reported FBI agents detained Tapia and Toviggino at JFK Airport and requested Tapia's devices; AFA said this was false and no devices were seized.

U.S. authorities are investigating over $300 million in AFA-linked commercial contracts amid a money-laundering probe.

FBI declined to comment, but AFA stated the document does not impose any personal measure on Tapia or Toviggino.
