139 Indians released from Russian Army, 2 dozen remain: MEA warns against shady job offers

Indian nationals have been released from the Russian military, with efforts ongoing for the remaining two dozen.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal warned Indian citizens against fraudulent overseas job offers that are risky.

The Supreme Court directed MEA to appoint a nodal officer to coordinate with families of Indians in the Russian military.

MEA was also asked to facilitate DNA matching and assist families in filing compensation claims with the Russian Embassy.

Indian nationals were recruited with promises of jobs, salaries, and citizenship but were sent to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war.
