‘Non-cooperation by state’: SC raps Arunachal Pradesh govt, summons top officials in CBI probe involving CM Khandu’s kin

The Supreme Court summoned Arunachal Pradesh chief secretary and principal secretary (home) for the state government's alleged non-cooperation in a CBI probe involving family members of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The court's bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta directed the officers to appear on August 24 with responses to the CBI's status report dated July 17.

The CBI, represented by ASG KM Nataraj, told the court that Arunachal Pradesh authorities were not cooperating and sought more time for the enquiry.

The probe stems from an April 6 Supreme Court order for a preliminary enquiry into allegations of preferential allotment of public works contracts worth Rs 1,270 crore in Arunachal Pradesh.
