Tamil Nadu renames breakfast scheme after former CM Kamaraj

Tamil Nadu government renames Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme to ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme’.

The scheme currently benefits 19,34,230 students in Classes 1 to 5 across 37,447 government and aided primary schools.

The government approved extending the scheme to Classes 6 to 8 from September 17, covering additional 15,14,274 students.

Annual expenditure estimated at ₹343.55 crore, calculated at ₹12.71 per student per day for 210 days.
