Andhra intensifies search for elusive royal bengal tiger ‘Explorer’, livestock attacks

The Andhra Pradesh forest department is tracking a male Royal Bengal tiger named 'Explorer' in the Godavari region, where it has roamed for six months.

The tiger has caused livestock attacks, including killing two cows in Mangapathi Devi Peta village on July 30, and killing calves near Jalleru in West Godavari district.

Nearly 100 forest personnel, wildlife experts from Pune, thermal drone teams, and trap cameras have been deployed across Eluru, Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada, and Chintoor forest divisions near Papikonda National Park.

Surveillance was intensified after fresh pugmarks were found in Gopalapuram mandal, East Godavari district, around Karakapadu, Nandigudem, and Tokkireddigudem villages.
