Building linked to TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee demolished

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's alleged illegal office building in Amtala, South 24 Parganas, was demolished on July 18, 2026.

The five-storey building was razed using three bulldozers after two notices were served to the owner.

Heavy Central forces, local police, and administrative officers were deployed; police broke locks and seized belongings.

BJP supporters claimed Banerjee planned attacks from the building; BJP minister Agnimitra Paul stated no illegal buildings would be spared.

The property was bought under Leaps and Bounds, with director Amit Banerjee as one of the owners; Banerjee said he would move court if needed.
