Mumbai: CAMA And Albless Hospital Doctors Report Rare Cases Of Stomach Cancer Masquerading As Ovarian Cancer

CAMA and Albless Hospital in Mumbai reported two rare cases of Krukenberg tumour in women aged 25 and 37.

Krukenberg tumour is an aggressive ovarian cancer caused by the spread of stomach cancer, with both cases linked to signet-ring cell gastric adenocarcinoma.

Both patients had ovarian masses and gastrointestinal symptoms; diagnosis was confirmed via PET-CT and endoscopic biopsy.

Treatment involved extensive surgery, including hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy; one patient also received paclitaxel-carboplatin chemotherapy.

The report highlights that women with bilateral solid ovarian masses and gastrointestinal symptoms should be evaluated for underlying gastrointestinal cancer.
