Two friends shot at outside shopping mall in Ludhiana

Two friends, both named Aryan (Aryan Ghumman and his namesake), were shot outside a shopping mall in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, on Friday evening by occupants of a Fortuner after an altercation at a traffic signal.

The victims were travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio when the Fortuner came alongside; an argument broke out and one Fortuner occupant allegedly fired four to five rounds before fleeing towards Mullanpur.

Aryan Ghumman was hit in the waist, and the other Aryan suffered a grazing injury to the shoulder; both were taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in stable condition.

A friend of the victims, Varinder, alleged the shooting resulted from old enmity between two groups and that one attacker is related to a sitting legislator, though police did not comment.

Police from Sarabha Nagar police station collected evidence, are reviewing CCTV footage, and recording statements; Additional DCP Amandeep Brar confirmed the investigation.
