A Kenmore Air floatplane made an emergency landing and caught fire near Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands, Washington State, on July 23, 2026.
The aircraft had 11 people aboard (10 passengers and 1 pilot); all survived, with four sustaining serious injuries.
Two injured were transported to Bellingham and two to Orcas Island; one person is in critical condition with head injuries, broken bones, and lacerations.
The flight departed Lake Union in Seattle at 4:30 p.m. and crashed around 5:15 p.m. in Shallow Bay off Sucia Island.
Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel confirmed the accident and stated the company is cooperating with investigating authorities.
