Inflow boost: Foreign deposits, swaps draw $21bn in 40 days

RBI raised $20.7 billion through concessionary swap facility for FCNR(B) deposits, OFCBs, and ECBs as of July 17.

Mobilization includes $17.4 billion from FCNR(B) deposits, $2 billion from OFCBs, $1.3 billion from ECBs.

Collection is nearly twice the speculated amount; overall window targets $80-$85 billion by end-September for FCNR(B) and December for OFCB/ECB flows.

RBI disclosed the figure as a market management move after the rupee neared its record low.
