Panchkula gets 4R Earth Repair Centre to promote reuse, reduce burden on landfill

  1. Panchkula municipal corporation and Aashman Foundation opened the 4R Earth Repair Centre at Mansa Devi Complex.

  2. The centre collects reusable items like clothes, books, toys, furniture, utensils, school bags, stationery, and electronic appliances from households, schools, offices, and other organizations in Panchkula.

  3. Donated items are assessed, cleaned, repaired, sorted, and refurbished before redistribution.

  4. Most reusable items are given to economically weaker families for a symbolic ₹1, while educational material and essential household items are free for underprivileged children and families.

  5. Aashman Foundation launched the '1,00,000 kg mission' to divert 100,000 kg of reusable materials from landfills.
