Greater Noida: Woman dies after SUV plunges into canal

A 31-year-old woman died after the Mahindra Thar SUV she was in plunged into a canal in Dankaur, Greater Noida, early Monday.

Her husband, driving the SUV, escaped without injury; he claimed he dozed off, missed a turn, and lost control while attempting a U-turn.

Police found the woman trapped about 100 metres from the SUV; she was declared dead at a hospital.

The woman's family alleged foul play, saying the husband had been insisting on divorce; police are investigating from all angles.

The couple had been married for six years and have a four-year-old son.
