Breathlessness in women blamed on anaemia? Cardiologist shares 5 signs it may be a heart condition

The condition discussed is mitral stenosis, where the mitral valve narrows or blocks blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle.

Mitral stenosis can cause shortness of breath due to reduced oxygen-rich blood delivery to the body.

It may develop from rheumatic fever, age-related changes, calcium buildup, or congenital factors.

The condition typically develops gradually over time.
