Rohtak: MDU suspends physical education HoD after probe finds illegal fines, administrative lapses

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak suspended physical education HoD Prof Bhagat Singh Rathee after a probe found illegal fines and administrative lapses.

A fact-finding committee revealed that ₹61,300 was collected from students as fines for absences from sports activities, seminars, and events without legal authority.

The fines were based on a physical education society constitution from June 2025, but the committee found it lacked university approval and violated MDU Act and Statutes.

The executive council accepted the inquiry report on July 9 and ordered immediate suspension and further action against Prof Rathee.
