Mumbai Tragedy: 48-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed After Speeding Trailer Crosses Median On Eastern Express

A 48-year-old motorcyclist, Mohammad Yahya Abdul Ansari, was killed on the Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai when a speeding trailer (MH-43-CE-7679) crossed the median and crashed into oncoming traffic.
The trailer driver, Gayasuddin Allagar Samani, 31, was booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving.
The tanker driver, Abdul Sameer Altaf Hussain Shaikh, 35, survived with injuries after his oil tanker collided with the trailer; he was extricated by firefighters from the mangled cabin.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am on July 31, 2026, near Pragati Co-operative Housing Society in Kurla East, when the trailer mounted the divider and entered the wrong carriageway.
Police registered an FIR based on Shaikh's statement, and an investigation into the crash is underway.
