Threat to UK Islamic Event: 12 Arrested Over Alleged Far-Right Plot Targeting Islamic Event, Aged 27 to 82

UK counter-terrorism police arrested 12 people aged 27 to 82 over an alleged extreme right-wing plot targeting a major Islamic event in Suffolk attended by 15,000 people.

The event ran from July 9 to 12 at a country estate and concluded early on Sunday after the threat was discovered.

Eight men are held under the Terrorism Act; three men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, and a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood said the UK must unite against hatred, referencing the country's terrorism threat level raised to 'severe' in April.

Counter-terrorism police chief Helen Flanagan called the arrests a 'stark reminder' of the ongoing serious risk of extreme right-wing terrorism.
