  1. Sanitation workers in Ludhiana ended their six-day strike after talks with Punjab local government minister Harjot Singh Bains.

  2. The government agreed to bring outsourced sanitation workers with three years of continuous service under direct contracts from August 1.

  3. Monthly remuneration for contractual sanitation workers was revised to ₹20,520, nearly double previous amounts.

  4. The strike was launched over a police lathi-charge in Barnala and demands including regularisation of contractual employees.

  5. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Monday to discuss remaining demands.
