Govt summons Meta's global team over PM Modi post restriction, to question algorithmic bias

India's government has summoned Meta's global team to explain the temporary restriction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Facebook post.

Officials will question Meta on alleged algorithmic bias, content moderation systems, and its role in maintaining public order.

Meta's global representatives will also appear before a parliamentary panel for scrutiny.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) found Meta's explanation of a technical glitch inadequate.

Hyderabad police have registered cases against Meta India's head.
